Why call this website Curiosity Corner? I was born curious, so I've collected my findings from years of reading, investigating, and researching how to manage life on planet Earth. You might find my thoughts helpful; if not, carry on, and good luck. I bless your efforts.
If you are curious...welcome to the inside of my mind!
Someone once told me, "Curiosity killed the cat." The original expression was, "Curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back."
The first part of the proverb was heard in Ben Johnson's 1598 play, Every Man in His Humor. I'm not sure when or how the second part of that proverb was added or if it was a precursor, but I know that my curiosity has given me great satisfaction. I chase after new information like a hound on a hunt and chew on it like a hungry pup chews on a new bully stick. Maybe not that ferociously, but just as dedicated, I assure you.
Early on, I found myself oblivious to or bored with private details of people's lives—in other words, gossipy conversations. As a child, I loved stories and listened with rapture, but hearing another's difficulties was uncomfortable. Now and then, I would slip into a conversation of this type and then back out again, hoping to hear a marvelous story or bit of news that would help me understand the world better. I truly wanted to fill in all the pieces of this big, confusing universe.
Do I recommend curiosity? I think living is nearly impossible without it.
I recommend you become inquisitive if you're not already and teach it to your children if you have any, just as you would teach them to build a snowman, climb a steep hill, or check out the undertow of the ocean before diving in willy-nilly.
Curiosity and the Holy Spirit are my constant companions, and I find life infinitely interesting because of both. That's why I put together this website: to share with you some of those little nuggets of gold that make life easier.
Welcome!
Denise
